I have been obsessed with felt! Anyone else think felt is wonderful?? This year for Christmas gifts for my friends, I made scissor keepers with felt and the scissor keeper die from PaperTrey Ink. It is relaxing to sit and sew with felt and the dies make it so easy to cut the felt out AND adds the sewing holes as well. How much easier can it be???!!!! The only part I need to worry about, is what color of felt I am going to use and what color of floss I will use! Super fun!!!
Lately, I have been working on banners, I am banner obsessed! I used banner dies from Lawn Fawn to cut out the banner itself. And then depending on the banner I'm making, I use other dies to cut out the accents and alphabet. I found felt dies that cut the holes on them at Simon Says Stamp and PaperTrey Ink. You can use any dies that you have to cut felt, most work fine in the big shot. The sewing dies just make it extra easier because the sewing holes are cut into the felt at the same time you cut the shape. If you don't have sewing dies, get out your other dies and give them a try! You can stitch around the edges easily any felt shape or you can use felt glue to adhere your layers.
Here is an Easter banner I made for my sister
Here is another Easter banner
Here is a picture of the banners that I cut out using the Lawn Fawn banner die. I love that the holes are already cut out for me which makes hanging the banners easy. This is for a Fall banner that I have yet to sew, but aren't those colors divine??!!!
This is for a banner that says Have Faith
The best part of these banners are that you can customize them anyway you want. For this banner, I beaded the edges, hard to see in the picture but adds a nice sparkle to the banner. I use Mill Hill beads in various sizes and colors, really whatever looks good.
I added some green beads for this Christmas banner. I also used the bigger banner die for this one since it will only say NOEL with two snowflakes on each size.
Once again, hard to capture in pictures, but this banner has beading around the edges as well. I LOVE the shiny silver felt!!!!
All the felt I used is from The Felt Pod. They have so many colors....see below!!! Be sure to use 100% wool felt with your die cuts, other felts may not cut well. 100% wool felt gives you nice, clean edges.
I was so excited to get my new felt order the other day because I finally ordered a felt ring swatch. Now I can see the colors in person so I can order EXACTLY the color I want!!!! I just can't stop staring at the FELT!!!!
Have you done any felt projects?! Share!!!!
