Using the Kiwi Lane Design Templates......yes again!!!

You know I love my Kiwi Design Templates!  I'm sharing another layout with you today but first wanted to share another thought about the templates:
This summer, my oldest had an honors English project to do.  He had to read a book from an American author and do one of four project options using the book.  Kyle asked permission from his teacher if he could use the Game of Thrones series for his project.  His teacher said "of course".  (I LOVE his school!!!)  Since he was on book 2 working into book 3- he decided to do a character scrapbook as his project.  Oh as a scrapper myself....I was so happy!!!!  It was so hard not to walk in there and take over as he was working!!!  I REALLY REALLY wanted to!!  I gave him the suggestion of using the Kiwi Lane Design templates to help him get some decoration for his project.  They are easy to use, and if you aren't a scrapper, it makes scrapbooking look really easy!  He didn't use them on every layout, but he used them a lot in his scrapbook.  It turned out nice!  I can't wait to see what grade he gets on it!!!
If you have kids that like to scrapbook, Kiwi Lane Design templates are a great tool for them to use as well!

Okay, back to the layout I am sharing today:

I loved this paper with it's bright colors, but I did need to break it up some with some solid colors.   Those templates really help to use those pieces you didn't think you would use in your paper!!

What have I been Cross Stitching??

Trying out a new picture for this blog post!  My stitching glasses & my Princess Leia needle minder- probably my most used tools!

What have I been Cross Stitching?

I have been working on my Cowardly Lion pattern from Mystic Stitch.  It is coming along, you can see more of the path and the trees, and just a HINT of the lion!  I've been having fun with this one.  It will be beautiful when it is done.
I am trying to figure out how I am going to use this smaller frame to stitch with.  I guess I am going to have to move it over so I can start the next page- page 3.  I am still waiting on my scroll frame from needle needs....and trying to make do until it gets here.  I can really see how a scroll frame will help and keep my work neater on bigger jobs.

This is the finished pattern I am working on.  I have a long way to go......

I switched out my cross stitch board.  I know it is still summer weather, but with the kids back to school in our area, I am ready for fall.  I put up some fall stitches.  Maybe if I am ready for fall, it will make the weather seem cooler??

Sorry for the yellowish picture, I had to shut the blinds so the glass didn't reflect on the picture, but then it was to dark.  Anyways, this was the best I could do at the time of day.  These are some patterns by Praire Schooler- one of my favorites to stitch.
Nice fall leaves, and some animals!

I really like the turkey in this set.  Very Fall-ish!

The deer is why I really wanted to stitch this  set.  So pretty!

I used some marbled fabric I had, I think it worked well with the colors.

I also switch out my board by the front door.  This is a smaller board so I use my Pottery Barn Christmas Ornaments on them.  I have them in red frames and silvery/goldish- both are pretty but the red ones are my favorite.

I love this material- it was super soft which was a little more challenging to work on and then later cut.  But it was so pretty finished, it was worth it.

This is another fall set from Praire Schooler.  My favorite part of stitching these minis, is picking out my material.  Since I am doing a set of four, I have to have enough material to do all of the set on them.  As long as it is big enough, I can play around with whatever material looks best with the pattern.  For the last little bit, I have been using material just from my stash.  (I have a big stash.....ssssshhhh, it's  a hobby!!!)  It has been fun to see what I can make work from what I have bought over the years.

Sorry about the side ways picture....I didn't notice until I had the post typed and couldn't change it then!  These are the set I just took down- out of the frames.  I use No-Fray on the edges, and let it dry completely.  Then I can store them and they don't unravel.  They go into the frames and then I remove them and store in plastic baggies in my stitching box.  These are Summerology from Trilogy I think. This picture doesn't show it well but the material had a sparkle to it.

This is the other set that I just changed out.  Another Praire Schooler pattern.  I put these up for the Fourth of July but loved them so much I left them out for a bit.

I am also still working on my last silhouette of the Disney Princesses.  I am only working on this when I am out of the house with time.  So if I am waiting on Kyle at practice, I stitch.  I have worked on it while Jesse is at swim.  It is slower going this way but at least I am still stitching and see progress.

So that's what I have been up to.  What project are you currently working on?  And Happy Stitching! Leave me a comment!
Thanks for stopping by.

Kiwi Lane Templates for a Beach Layout

My blog readers already know, I love my Kiwi Lane Templates.  I use them often, especially when I get stuck trying to create a layout or when I have just a bit of DSP left of a pack and I want to use it up.  My Kiwi Lane Templates always help! They are wonderful!  I love endorsing crafting products that work, and these are super easy to use, and fun to create with!  Ever use some DSP and have that one or two sheets of paper that you just can't see yourself using the color or the pattern?  I am often able to use that piece when I pull out my templates!  That sheet of DSP that you thought would never work with "your style" often because a great accent piece to your layers!  I don't make any money off these templates, I just really enjoy using them!

With this layout, it was easy to look in my stash and add in the "extras".

I never thought to stamp on the wood accents, but I liked the way it turned out.  My stamping was a little fuzzy but I decided it didn't matter and kept it- after all, I was trying to use up some of my stash!!

I'm not a "perfect bow" on a layout person.  I do enjoy ribbon on a layout but I am more like a messy effect person!!!

I absolutely adore the colors in this DSP!  I would have never put them together but the work GREAT!!!!  One of my favorite color combos lately!

I love doing layouts like this, when I have similar pictures.  None of them were bad, none of them were fantastic pics, so I wanted to use them all.
One tip for mothers: don't buy a white swim shirt and use it at the beach!!!!  My boys always use swim shirts- very rarely do they take them off- just to much sun for them.  The white was a great idea, a cooler option than the black that we bought that year too.  Of course, they work great in a POOL....NOT at the beach!!!!  Can you see the discoloration around his neck and shirt sleeves?  I guess the sand makes them get a dirty look to them.  And no, it did not wash out.  Live and learn....and no more white swim shirts for the beach!!!
Thanks for stopping by!

TV Talk- Zoo and Tyrant

I'm linking up with Jenny at: http://lovemyrandomness.blogspot.com
for some TV Talk!  I decided to do something different today, I'm just going to focus on two shows.  As always:
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

Zoo:  As always, this show is good!!!  My husband and teen even watch it.  A lot happened this week.  I am still unsure about the "mother cell" and what it can do and what it does.  I'm sure we will find out more in the coming weeks.  So basically, they didn't have the cell, got the cell, crazy killer guy stole the cell, crazy killer guy tried to inject some of the cell in his eye.....but died, got the cell back, then they lost the cell to a turncoat FBI guy, then shot the FBI guy, now they have the cell back again.  Yup, that sums it up!!!  Anyone else watch this show???  Did anyone else read the book that the show is based on?

Tyrant:  This is the show I was waiting all week to watch.  Sammy wanted to give money to the resistance to help fight this was, but insisted on meeting the head guy in person, who happens to be Barry......his supposed to be dead dad!!  They meet in person!!!!  Of course Sammy is mad and upset.  I was waiting to hear WHY Barry never called his family after he got to safety.  Barry's answer made sense: he would never be able to see his family and keep them safe, he would always have been a voice on the end of a phone- never allowing them to move on.  Okay, but I'm sure Molly is gonna be pissed when she finds out.  And his daughter!  So is Sammy going to stay and fight with his dad or will he go back to the USA and keep his dad's secret?

Okay, I have more TV to watch this week but enjoyed both of these shows.
Thanks for stopping by, and link up with Jenny and talk some TV talk with us!!
