Beach Card Set

I did a beach card for a couple of challenges but I needed a set of note cards for a gift. The blog post is Here .  The By The Tide set was the perfect set to use for note cards.  There are so many variations that you can do!!!  You can view the stamp set here:By The Tide .
I also used embossing folders and my Big Shot, all embossing folders are Stampin' Up folders.  I used the Magnetic Platform with my Big Shot to make using my framelits sssssooooo easy!!!!

This is the first card.  I loved the coral so I wanted o focus on the coral.  Love the new Candy Dots!!!!
This is the second card.  I loved the lobster....okay, I admit, I love all the images in this set!  I also used the Goregous Grunge stamp set.  I have to say this is one of the best stamp sets in the whole catalog.  It has the BEST ink splatters!!!  A great set!!!  I also used the Chalk Talk Framelits on the tags.  I have used these tags so many times already!!!  LOVE them.  They do have a great bundle set that includes a matching stamp set.  I love them both.  But I have also found other stamps work great with the Chalk Talk Framelit!

I wanted to include a couple of horizontal cards in the set.  This is simple using the images in the stamp set but it is very pretty.  Fun card just to stamp!
This is the fourth card.  I love those lobsters!!!

This is the fifth card.

This is the last card.  I really liked this one.  Do you like horizontal or vertical cards best???

I included a stamp on the inside of each card as an accent.  I did not put an embellishment on the inside of the cards since these are note cards for a gift.

This was a fun project.  I have never done a card set!!  I think I am going to do more!  Hope you enjoyed.

Dreaming of the ocean..... So I made a card!

It's Summer time!!!  And I am dreaming of the beach!!!  I can sit in the sand and look at the ocean all day long! Being in and near the water makes me very happy.  It melts all the stress in your life away!
My Aunt lives near the beach.  She was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy.  Her house was flooded.  After many repairs and rebuilding, she is due to move back into her house at the end of the month.   My sister and I are making her a welcome back home gift as this has hit her hard.  My sister is cross stitching her a Welcome sign that is a beach motif.  It is very pretty.....still a work in progress though.  We are also going to included some pretty new garden flags for her yard.  I am making her a note card set.  I am sure she will be sending out Thank You cards to all the volunteers that have helped her rebuild.  The note cards will be perfect for her.  This is one in the set I am making.  I left the inside blank so she can add her notes easily.
I needed to make the note cards simple since she may be mailing many of these.  Flat and simple was a must for this project.  I used several challenges to design this card.
I used the card sketch from:

This was such a great sketch, it inspired me right away.

I used the color challenge from: http://colourq.blogspot.com/
These colors are just so pretty!

This card also fit into the challenge at: http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/
The theme this week was SAND.  Perfect!!!  Not only is my card ocean/sand themed but my Aunt's house was wiped out my Hurricane Sandy!!!

In keeping the card simple and flat, I couldn't use bulky embellies.  The new candy dots from Stampin' Up were perfect!!!  A little splash of color!!!

Very easy to use by themselves or can be added to the brad bases.  I used them by themselves here.

This is simple and sweet! Thanks for stopping by for a look!  Take a second and FOLLOW ME!  I love new craft friends!  To view the card set made for the gift, click HERE .

My Cross Stitch Projects

I love sharing my cards and scrapbook pages with my blog readers but I do other crafts as well.  One of my favorite "other" crafts is cross stitching.  I have showed some of my other projects on here before.  I thought it was a good time to show some of my summer cross stitch.  If you didn't read my previous post, I have two plaques by my doors that I do seasonal cross stitch for.  They are fun little projects.  I switch these out seasonally.  Here are my new summer ones that I did recently.
The flash shows the sparkle in the fabric I used for this set.  (but it also adds a glare so I did it just in one photo).
Same photo without the flash.  These are for June/July on my board.

This pattern is Summerology from The Trilogy.

I am not sure why, but the watermelon is my favorite!  So cute and summery!

This is the set of four on my board.  They are so cute together.

This is my board by the kitchen/garage door.  This is my longer board that my uncle made me.  I have another board that is woodgrain that my dad made me before he passed away.  I switch them out based on which I need at the time.

This material has a sparkle to it too but it didn't show up as good.  My kitchen is brighter so I had to be careful how I took the picture so they didn't glare to bad.

Who doesn't like a mermaid???

A cute crab!

The submarine is what made me do this set....it was just to cute!!!

This is a set that I just finished stitching.  I used a green sparkly material.  It just screamed summer/spring to me.  These are Sneak Peaks.  I have not cut these yet since I just finished them.

I am currently working on some new Thanksgiving ones.

Project Life Part 4

This is my fourth page of Project Life, and I have to say.....I LOVE IT!!  I am getting more used to it, used to the different format and learning how to use up some of my supplies!  I am founding it easier to use my stamps on the little pockets.  I see each little area as a mini page.  So I decorate each pocket differently but with them coordinating on each page.  This page was about my youngest son's soccer team and his championship win!
The biggest thing I have found is that you have to pay attention to which direction your pockets are going, horizontal or vertical.  I am looking for some more inserts that have a different layout on them.  I think it will add some variation to my first Project Life album.  This is a GREAT way for younger kids to get into scrapbooking.  It can be as detailed or as simple as you want it.
The first picture is on my son and my niece after his game win.  (She just got her braces on, bless!!!!)  I stamped directly on this picture with one of my Stampin' Up stamps from the My Paper Pumpkin kits.  I love that the kits can be useful even after you do the project!  I used stazon black ink for this since it was on a glossy surface. It did require a bit of drying time so keep that in mind if you stamp on photos (maybe about 10 minutes).

This space I used the new Stampin' Up coredinations paper.  I am LOVING that we now carry it in every color family.  http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=129953  This one is from the brights collection.  If you have never used Core'dinations paper before, it is GREAT!  It is sandable cardstock for an antiqued, distressed, color-popping look. Outside layers are exclusive Stampin’ Up! colors—one side textured, one side smooth. Inside layer monochromatic color. Reveal inside layer by sanding, tearing, distressing.  Embossing folders are a great way to use the Core'dinations paper.  I used the hexagon folder here:  http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=129378
I also used the new stamp Gorgeous Grunge  for the ink splatters.  I love ink splats and I love to mist, but very rarely do I end up with uniformed looking splats.  The new stamp set is a GREAT way to add it to backgrounds.  I have used this stamp a dozen times so far and only had it a week!  I am going to say for my style of scrapbooking or card making, this stamp maybe one of the best used stamps out of the new catty for me!
I added my son's soccer patch to this spot.  The kids earned patches when they played hard during a game.  Each kid normally earns to patches a season.  We never had time to put them on Jesse's jersey and since next year's team will be a new jersey....using them as an accent on his page was a great way to save them.  I layered it in a flattened bottle cap from the Spring mini (flattened in the Big Shot).
For my journaling card, I used a Stampin' Up stamp from the Spring mini.  I love the rain and the girl with the umbrella.  It rained and delayed our playoff games for a week so this was a great way to add that detail to my journaling!

This is a picture of Jesse with his metal but you can't see the metal.  Geesh!!!  But I loved this picture.  I love that his hands still look babyish here to me!!  To make the banner at top, I used the Hearts A Flutter framelits .  If you are like me, I love banners, but I am not so good at cutting them out myself.  These framelits make easy work of them in the Big Shot.  If you don't already own a Big Shot , I highly recommend one from every crafter!  I really don't know how I crafted before without one!!!  I used a page out of an old book to cut the banner out.  I added one of the brights buttons from Stampin' Up to match the other elements on the page!

For this space I added Jesse's team picture.  This isn't the best, the sun was in his eyes but oh well, what can you do!!??  I jazzed up the space with a tag!

Here is an up close picture of the tag.  I cut the tag using the new Chalk Talk Framelits .  I seriously love these.  I think they are the BEST framelit set yet!!!!  I stamped the tag with the Yippee- Skippee Stamp Set .  This stamp set is not listed as coordinating with the Chalk Talk tags, so look in your stamps to see what will work with your framelits!  I love to find new surprises that work with a new product!!!  (Isn't that sentiment adorable!!!!!  I HAD to get this stamp set!!!)

The littler spaces I used up some pictures that I took of the last game.  This was the two teams that played in the championship game.

Now here is where it gets tricky - to use this smaller space, I wanted to keep the whole page for the soccer game.  The picture that I had left was of THREE kids.  It didn't fit in my space.  I cut it to work, and used the  other half of the picture on my next space.
Sometimes you have to adjust in these type of albums.  I got it to work and got the page done!
Hope you enjoyed this part 4 of my summer Project Life album.  If you have any questions about any of the Stampin' Up products used, feel free to ask!
Happy crafting!

Ipsy is here!

I am not sure what happened to my ipsy this month, it must have went on vacay again!  Last month it went to Georgia even though it is mailed out less than 10 miles from my house!!  I seem to be very late getting mine.  But I have to say......it was WORTH the wait!!!!
I adore the pink envie in my mailbox!!!  If you don't know, ipsy is a month subscription that arrives to your house each month.  You fill out a questionnaire and samples are based on those answers.  This is more of a makeup type bag each month.  If you are interested my link is: http://www.ipsy.com/?refer=u-hebltr0sj8a76bg
(I receive points to use towards merchandise purchase)
It is $10 + tax  with free shipping!!
Each month, your samples, which most are full size products, come in a GREAT makeup bag.  I am LOVING this months'!!!  Leopard print!  YES PLEASE!!!!!
The first product is a lip pencil.  I love lip pencils.  This one is more of a liner vs. all over color because it is thin.  But I used it as an all over color and add some gloss.  This color was Tickle Me Pink.  Way to pinky for me in the summer time.  I like more of a nude color for summer, but I will probably enjoy come the fall.  This is a nice full size product!

Now this one, the Cailyn Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner had me a bit confused.  I normally use pencil eye liners OR just use a eye shadow color and wet the end of my brush to make it damp to apply as liner.  I was up for the challenge of a gel.  I have another picture at the bottom of the post for when I actually used it.  Just another note.....I LOVE IT!!!!!
There are directions on the box too!  Be not afraid to try gel!!!!

The next item is a Cream Blush- Rouge by NYX.  I have to say, I wasn't excited about this.  Not really a fan of cream blush.  BUT.....I gave it a try.  I take it BACK!  It is AWESOME!!!  I used my fingers to apply- start with a little and then add more, if needed.  I love the color, I loved the ease of use! I was able to apply right where I wanted it!  Perfect!  I am now a fan!!!!

This is probably the only thing in the bag that I wasn't crazy about.  I don't use highlighters much.  It is a nice full product.  I did use it under and in the inner corner of my eye this morning.  It goes on easy.  Just not sure how much I will use it.  But for those that do use highlighters, it is a nice product by Hexxa.
The last item was the Sparking Cream Palette color.  I was a little taken back by the colors, but I did put in my ipsy profile that I am adventurous with makeup.  This colors are loud and bright.  In the summer, I wear a lot of peachy, tan, nude colors on my eyes.  It is soft and beachy looking.  Is that a word??  I used some of this this morning on my eyes, just in the corner.  I used the second one from the left.  It was a shade or so darker than my eye shadow so it gave a little definition to my eye.  It is a cream.  Goes on smooth.  But with the sparkle, it isn't the best thing.  I would that it creases easily, and I use eye shadow base!  I found that it worked better applying my eye color OVER it, which made it hold on better and since it was darker than my eye shadow color, it still sparkled and gave definition.

EDITED: After reviewing this on ipsy, I realized that it is not intended for eyes, it is body glitter.  Okay, now I am confused because I would not sure this on my body AT ALL!!!!   What the heck??  yellow body glitter???  Okay, after reviewing that, I am gonna give this a thumbs down.  The colors are to odd for body glitter.  And the other colors in the samples were worst!  Who wants black body glitter??  If you want to use it for your eyes, then maybe a useable product, if you are using it for your body....you are going to look black and blue!  Or in my sample...yellow and orange!!!!!

These are two of the colors on my hand so you can see, they are glittery!!!
I am not sure these could be used alone as eye color.  They are a little to creamy for that, I think they would crease off really easily.  These are bright!  I would say for a night out, or to step up your eye color, these are cute!
This is the eye gel taken apart to use.  I was surprised the color was a purple, which is VERY pretty.  And you put it on with a brush.  I am not sure how Gel-ish this is but it goes on very easily and is similar to cream eye shadow in feel.  It has stayed on well.  I would definitely buy this product by itself!!!!
I loved this month's bag!!! The samples were great and the bag is super cute!!!
Have you joined ipsy yet???
Michelle!!!
